About · What is yoga therapy
What is yoga therapy?
A holistic, individualised use of yoga practices to support health — distinct from a general yoga class.
Yoga therapy is a system of healing in which a specific condition is approached holistically, adapting yoga's tools — postures, breath, relaxation and meditation — to a person's individual needs.
Where a general yoga class is one practice for a whole room, yoga therapy is tailored to the individual and most often works alongside non-communicable and lifestyle conditions, complementing conventional care rather than replacing it.
It rests on two pillars: the heritage of traditional practice and the growing body of peer-reviewed research that lets us apply it safely and effectively.
